TR Professional Edition -- Programming Instructions
Last Updated:  March 13, 2010

If you would like to record audio from the Internet ( Radio stations, etc.) or
off your own CD's, VCR's hooked up to your PC, etc. -- there is an easy
to use and inexpensive Software program that you can download off the Internet from a company called "High Criteria".  You can download a demo
of each Version to try out on your PC before purchasing the Registration Key code.  The only limitation of the demo is that your audio recordings will be limited to 40 seconds in length.  Then if you like what you see, you can
purchase the Registration Key Code and add it to the software you already
downloaded and you'll be all set.  Follow their instructions and you shouldn't
have any problems.

Here are the two versions:

Total Recorder Standard Edition  -- $17.95

Total Recorder Standard Edition records PC audio from almost any source, including streamed audio from programs like Real Player and Windows Media Player. It can also record conventional audio from CD's, the microphone and other input lines on a sound card.

Total Recorder Professional Edition -- $35.95

Total Recorder Professional Edition is a product extension of Total Recorder Standard Edition. Total Recorder Professional Edition retains all of the features and facilities available in the Standard version of the program, but also adds an enhanced set of features that will be attractive to serious recording enthusiasts.

Features included in the Professional version, that are not included in the Standard Edition, include:

The inclusion of a mini-browser in the Recording Scheduler. The mini-browser allows Total Recorder to connect to any pre-defined Internet site and invoke the applicable player to play an Internet transmission. Development of this feature eliminates the requirement that users leave their browsers active and connected to a website, if they have scheduled a future recording of an Internet transmission.

Enhanced sound data editing features. Users can now delete parts of a recording, append a sound file or insert it anywhere within a recording. They can also use the Clipboard for cut, copy, and paste operations. For more information, refer to the "Editing a Sound File" section of the program Help.

New options in the Recording Scheduler allow Total Recorder to launch an application when a recording is started or close an application when a recording is complete. The scheduler can also shutdown the PC after a scheduled recording is completed and will also allow the user to initiate and terminate the dial-up connection that facilitates an Internet recording.

Split mode. A recording can now be split automatically into separate files, based on several different conditions. For example, a new recording file can automatically be created for each song in a playlist specified to a software player. Alternatively, a new file can be created once the recording file reaches a certain size or after a specified amount of time. The Split mode feature will also work on existing audio files. For more information, refer to the "Using Split Mode" section of the program Help.

Advanced options for automatically stopping a recording. For example, you can restrict a recording by time or disk size, or specify a time limit for no sound being recorded.

Advanced automatic file name generation facilities that let you specify the names of automatically generated files. This feature compliments facilities that are available in the scheduler and "Split mode" features.

I've used both of these Versions with great success and satisfaction.
This is the Software I use to create the Audio Clips that I add to the Websites as RPS Audio Clips --  from the BBC Radio, CD's, Videotapes, DVD's, etc.

They are certainly worth the small amount of $$$$ that I had to pay.

FYI -- I am not affiliated with High Criteria in any way and I do not receive
a percentage of any sales that they might receive by this recommendation.

Disclaimer -- I am not responsible for any incompatibility with your Sound
Card and any errors that you make setting up this Software on your own PC
that could result in any problems that you may experience.

          *  Automatically Connect to the Internet
          *  Record a Radio Program
          *  Automatically Disconnect from the Internet

This does require some basic knowledge of Computer / Software use.

If anyone else knows of similar Software programs that they would  like to
recommend, let me know.  You will have to provide your own detailed
Instructions to go along with it, though.
