Husband and wife Michael Williams and Judi
Dench star as screen parents in this tragic story of Danny Harris
(Richard Henders), an intelligent and lively 16-year-old diagnosed
with schizophrenia. The powerful and moving drama charts the impact of
this devastating illness on both Danny and his parents, Kevin and
Anne.
Danny, the family's eldest child, starts to
show signs of being disturbed. He runs away from boarding school,
refuses to go back and becomes increasingly wayward - and his behavior
is not just part of a difficult adolescent phase. As the situation
goes dramatically out of control, his parents consent to Danny being
hospitalized.
Drugs improve his condition and, eventually
he is diagnosed as schizophrenic. The family discovers it is a
devastating illness, which can not only destroy those afflicted, but
also shatter the lives of those around them.
