GREAT AND THE GOOD OF THE STAGE AND SCREEN JOIN TO WELCOME MINERVA II INTO LONDON On July 4th at 5.50pm, amidst the pomp and circumstance befitting the historic launch of a new cruise ship, the Pool of London will be awash with many guests, dignitaries and some very well-known faces. SWAN HELLENIC, whose ship MINERVA II will be the focus of all attention, is famed for discovery travel cruises that focus on the arts and culture of destinations. It is appropriate then that the roll call for the evening should include distinguished names from both literary and performance backgrounds. Amongst those gathered to witness Dame Kiri Te Kanawa perform the naming ceremony will be; another Dame Commander of the British Empire, Dame Judi Dench, actor, comedian and raconteur Stephen Fry, the author Peter Ackroyd, The Bishop of London and Sir Michael Parker, the Queen’s pyrotechnician. The Oscar-nominated and multi-award-winning Dame Judi will be reading the winning entry from SWAN HELLENIC’s Daily Telegraph poetry competition. This literary work, developed around the theme of ‘Discovery Travel’ has been judged by The Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion. For more info -- click here
