Here is one eyewitness's account ...
Brilliant show, great Rodgers songs. Highlight was Judi
Dench singing "I am
16" from Sound of Music - I can't even begin to describe how funny
it was -
even her outfit - dress and hairband. Funny! ... Judi Dench was
hilarious,
couldn't stop laughing ...

Thanks
to Ivana for sending these Photos to me to share.
She was in attendance in the audience.

Gillian Anderson cosies up to Dame Judi Dench, whose rendition of I am
Sixteen,
Going On Seventeen had the audience in stitches at a gala
charity concert staged at
the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The recently
widowed actress, who refused to give the howling public an encore, later
confessed she was actually very nervous about her wacky performance.

The Daily Express, May 14th
Gillian Anderson appears to
have been unwittingly recruited by thye Israeli navy. The X Files star,
who is due to appear in the West End play What the Night is For, was
grabbed by a tearful teenage fan after a recent concert in aid of NFA at
the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The distraught girl told Gillian, 33, she
had taken leave from the Navy in Israel to fly over. "You're very
brave" said Anderson, holding her hand and looking around for help.
The fan then hugged her, handing her a pin bearing a Hebrew inscription,
which Anderson politely put on. "The inscription says: "I'm
doing something dangerous to my life," the fan, Galit Ovadia, 19,
from Tel Aviv said later, "It was amazing to meet her." London
house-hunter Anderson then caught up with Dame
Judi Dench who, looking ahead to her next TV assignment with Geoffrey
Palmer, told the bemused alien tracker with a weary sigh: "We're
going to put As Time Goes By to bed - boring old thing."

Dame Judi Dench had the audience at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane
in
hysterics last night as she donned knee-high white socks, a frock and a
blonde wig for a gala charity concert. Guests including Michael Portillo
and
Jerry Hall were in stitches as Dame Judi sang a hilarious rendition of
"Sixteen, Going on Seventeen" from The Sound of Music. Josie
Lawrence and
Lesley Garrett were among the other stars taking part in the show to
celebrate the centenary of composer Richard Rodgers in aid of mental
health
charity, the Neurofibromatosis Association. Despite the audience's
calls
for more, Dench refused to give an encore. Dame Judi confessed she had
been
very nervous about her performance. "It was
frightening," she told me.
"There was nothing 'Sixteen' about it. If anything it was like
taking off on
an aircraft with no runway to take off from."

(Excerpt)
... Judi Dench had us all in stitches in a
Dorothy frock and knee-highs
singing I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen, with Brendan O'Hea as her
protector. Despite audience demands, they ducked an encore, capped
by
Morley's remark that, "like Elvis, Dame Judi has left the
building". She was
later thronged by eager autograph hunters at the VIP party.
