The purpose of
adding Audio Files to these Websites is to give you a chance
to have excerpts from DJD's and MW's numerous performances on
your computer as well as to give people who have never heard
these performances and don't have any other access to them,
the chance to hear them. While I try to add the text whenever
possible, I've found that the written word just does not do
their distinct voices justice.
Because of past
problems with other Web Hosts "losing" my MP3 Audio
File pages, I've switched to using the Zipped File Format on
my main Web Host pages. Zipped is a type of file compression
that reduces the file size and allows me to upload it onto my
Websites. This requires an added step to UnZip the file once
you've downloaded them. (see below for detailed UnZip
Instructions)
In
the near future, I will be adding Real Audio / Video Streaming
to these Websites.
So stay tuned ...
MP3
Audio File Download / UnZip Instructions
Click on the
Audio File Image you want to listen to. A grey "File
Download" Window will open. Select "Save this file
to Disk" option. Click on the "OK" button at
the bottom of the Window. A " Save As" Window will
open. Select the location on YOUR computer where you want to
store this file. The file name that I assigned to it will
appear in the File Name box at the bottom of the window. Click
on the "Save" button. The Download process will
begin. You can see it's progress either by checking the bar
across the center of the Window or by checking the %
downloaded on the top title line. The time it takes to
download a file varies by the file size. A 60 second file will
usually take between 10 to 15 minutes -- depending on your
System Requirements, Internet traffic, etc. Once the file
download is complete, you should hear a "beep". You
have a choice to open the file now by clicking on
"Open" or "Close" the window and open it
later.
Once you've
downloaded the Zipped Audio File from my Website and click on
it to open, the UnZip feature of the WinZip Program should
automatically appear. If not, that means you don't have the
WinZip program on your PC and you need to go to the WinZip
Website and download it. All you need is the
Evaluation Version. It's free but takes awhile to download --
depending on your system and Internet connection. Also, see
the button at the top of this page. Follow their instructions.
Mac Users will
need a program called "Zipit". Here's a link to
download that program:

Once WinZip is
downloaded and installed on your PC, after you download my
Zipped Audio File, you should have an option to open the file.
When you click on OK, that should start the UnZip procedure.
The wording may be different but the result is the same. Once
the file is Unzipped (be sure to pay attention to the folder
that it puts it in -- you can change the location) you should
be able to play the file using the Media Software you already
have on your PC (RealPlayer or Windows Media Player). I'm not
sure if this works the same way for Mac users -- let me know
and I'll update this page.
These are large
files, so if you'd rather not keep them on your PC once you've
listened to them, you will need to delete them individually.
